Memphis Named Most Underrated Sports City by USA Today

Grizzlies

USA Today has just named Memphis the most underrated sports city in the country. The article cites support for the Grizzlies, U of M Tigers, as well as the electric atmosphere at FedExForum.

“FedExForum (AKA The Grindhouse) is one of the few NBA arenas with a distinct personality, and this Grizzlies team has come to embody a philosophy of hard work and gritty toughness that Memphis prides itself on.”

That’s not news to anyone in Memphis or the surrounding areas, but it is good to know other people feel what we feel at the Grindhouse!

Just last year the Grizzlies were named the best sports franchise in the country by ESPN the magazine.

That’s not all Memphis has to offer either. The University of Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team also draws big crowds at the FedExForum. The Tigers make the Bluff City proud with all their sports, including women’s basketball, men and women’s soccer, and baseball just to name a few.

Memphis Tigers’ head basketball coach Josh Pastner told us how his dream came true for his team:

It’s not just basketball either. The AAA Memphis Redbirds just made the playoffs. Take an inside look at what’s happening behind the scenes in the playoff push at Autozone Park.

Have we made our point yet? Memphis has a lot to offer for sports fans. Soccer fans have their hotspots for watching matches, there’s also a roller derby league, and did we mention we’re home to the current foot bag net champion?
