Memphis has been a music city for about as long as music cities have existed. Now it has a new official designation.
Music Roadtrip has named Memphis a Certified Music City through a new partnership with the City of Memphis and Memphis Tourism.
What does that mean?
We’ll work directly with local partners to keep the Memphis section of our free travel app accurate, detailed and up to date. That includes studios, venues, museums, record stores, historic sites, concerts, community events and the places visitors tend to hear about from locals after they’ve already made their plans.
Open the Memphis map and you’ll find Sun Studio, Stax, Graceland and Beale Street, along with neighborhood clubs, working studios, local shops and plenty of places you may have driven past without knowing their story.

Why Memphis
That’s a big reason Memphis was the first city we ever featured in The Seeker, our weekly music-travel newsletter. It was an easy choice. Few places let you trace so much American music in a single afternoon. Our job is to help people find it all.
Music Roadtrip will maintain Memphis destinations and concert listings throughout the year, while local partners can add community events and flag places that belong on the map. We’ll also build itineraries for travelers who want to follow a particular sound, neighborhood or stretch of music history.
