World Relief Memphis: Connect Language Center Director

The Connect Language Center (CLC) Director is responsible for delivering on the mission of World Relief Memphis’ Connect Language Center to “build belonging by creating community spaces in quality ESL programming, teacher training, and cross-cultural education opportunities.” The CLC Director oversees all center operations, and maintains administrative efficiency. This includes managing student enrollment processes and overseeing successful delivery of ESL cycle operations and TEFL program administrative functions.


Overseeing delivery of the mission and vision of Connect Language Center
Center operations oversight and admissions quality control
Oversee enrollment processes and development
Ensure ESL and TEFL course cycle enrollment goals and sales of course products
Language center reception and hospitality oversight
Student communication and lines of inquiry (walk-ins, phone, email, etc.)
Appointment scheduling
Management of student CRM
Responsible for sales and business strategy development of the center
Responsible for managing day to day ESL course cycle operations including
Scheduling and academic calendars
Effectively assigning students and instructors to course cycles
Collaborates with education director in addressing student issues and complaints
Ensure cycle-start and end completion
Maintenance of course cycle
Management and training of operations staff
Collaboration with education director in recruitment and hiring of teaching faculty
Responsible for instructor on-boarding
Management of center budgets, reporting, projections and expense tracking
Research and design electronic record keeping procedures to allow data collections and regularly retrieve, analyze, and report data on the student population to stakeholders
Collaborate with other departments to meet shared organizational goals
Manage Space and materials inventory
Collaborate on student retention and recruitment support activities (events and outreach)
Collaborate with education director and mobilization team on marketing of the center in digital and print advertising and strategy and delivery


Demonstrated work in cross-cultural environments; overseas teaching or administrative experience preferred
Demonstrated record of professional development in conferencing and/or publishing in TESOL-related journals preferred
Highly organized and able to create and manage complex operational systems
The ability to initiate and take high ownership of work
Self-motivated and flexible
Can manage competing priorities and delegate tasks
Ability to manage a budget and accurately report expenses
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
Ability to manage and support numerous staff members
Ability to implement systems and processes across departments
Enjoys learning, teaching, and developing relationships with staff and students
A belief in the mission, vision and values of World Relief


Mature and personal Christian faith

Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (TESL/TEFL) or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 hours of TESL coursework
Three years of experience teaching ESL or EFL courses in an IEP, private language academy, college/university, or equivalent program
Ability to speak and write in Spanish at an advanced level (CEFR B2 or above)

General office setting.
Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in skype meetings may be required
Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending
