West Tennessee Family Solutions: Risk Management Director

Job Summary:   The Risk Management Director works directly under the supervision of the Executive Director.  The primary responsibilities include the oversight and management of all internal compliance with requirements from external entities, such as but not limited to DIDD, Licensure, CMS, TNCare, Department of Health, Adult Protective Services, etc.  The Risk Management Director ensures that the agency’s operations are compliant in an effort to provide the best possible quality services to each individual while ensuring their safety and protection. Serves as part of the Senior Management Team.

Essential Job Functions:
1.      Flexibility with work hours, occasional evening, weekend and holiday work will be required and expected
2.      Able to participate in management on-call rotation and respond appropriately based on the need
3.      Assess, develop, and manage the agency internal compliance system which meets the highest standard of Quality Assurance
4.      Develop and maintain quality control systems and processes
5.      Continuous knowledge of current requirements and regulations through DIDD, Licensure, CMS, HCBS, MCO’s, Person Centered Planning, APS, etc
6.      Deliver the internal compliance audit system to monitor and enhance service delivery
7.      Regular, consistent, ongoing audits of specific domains and departmental tasks/objectives
8.      Regular, ongoing home visits to WTFS operated homes to conduct internal audits
9.      Ongoing training and education to all employees and families as needed to ensure that all parties are aware and following quality assurance and incident management requirements
10.     Concise, regular, ongoing reports, feedback, audit findings created and presented to the management team
11.     Ensures that timely and necessary follow up, Plans of Correction and Actions are completed from internal and external audits, reviews, findings, incidents, and investigations
12.     Compile Quality Improvement Plan based on internal and external audits results & Incident Management trending
13.     Prepares Compliance reports related to Quality Assurance and Incident Management to the Risk Management Committee on a quarterly basis and Board of Directors as needed
14.     Prepares annual Compliance reports as part of the Management and Strategic planning team
15.     Oversees and manages the entire process of all external audits/reviews through DIDD, TNCare, Licensure, APS, MCO’s, etc
16.     Responsible for preparing the agency for external audits/reviews through focused guidelines and timeframes for compliance completion
17.     Responsible for remediation and follow up to external review findings; prepares reports as needed
18.     Primary contact with external entities related to compliance matters, in particular Quality Assurance and Incident Management
19.     Attendance to informational meetings and trainings related to compliance through external entities
20.     Serves as the agency Incident Management Coordinator (IMC) , meets all the regulations/requirements of all external entities, including but not limited to DIDD, Licensure, MCO’s, APS, etc
21.     Conducts the agency’s Protection from Harm, Incident Management trainings
22.     Leads the Incident Review Committee meetings/discussions, sends out meeting information ahead of time and does necessary follow up
23.     Responds to incidents/investigations promptly, ensures that the situation is addressed completely and appropriately; responds to calls, emails, texts after hours as needed; makes visits to the homes to ensure the situation is managed and individual is safe
24.     Train, educate, provide feedback to Administration and home staff related to compliance with Quality Assurance and Incident Management
25.     Must be able to get along well with others, be a team player as well as work efficiently and effectively in an independent manner
26.     Participate in agency wide initiatives to reduce the likelihood of risks that could negatively impact the agency and persons supported
27.     Use full discretion and maturity when dealing with sensitive information and situations; must adhere to confidentiality/HIPAA regulations
28.     Participate in assigned committees, projects, events as directed by Executive Director
29.     Conduct oneself consistent with agency mission, values, vision, and strategic planning

•       Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Two to three years supervisory experience preferred; two to three years experience with Quality Assurance and Incident Management role preferred.
•       Experience in DIDD system highly preferred.

•       Proficient computer skills, such as but not limited to MS office, Word, Excel, Google docs, able to create graphs and grids
•       Able to pass required background checks, drug screening, and all required employee trainings
•       Valid driver’s license; able to be designated driver on company insurance policy
•       Able to sit, stand, and work at computer for long periods of time; able to lift at least 50lbs
