Director, University of Memphis Early Learning & Research Center

The University of Memphis invites candidates to apply for the Director of the University of Memphis Early Learning & Research Center (ELRC). The ELRC is a laboratory/demonstration school and research center rooted in a constructivist philosophy and the ideal Director will serve as a leader of the center and in early childhood education.

The Director is responsible for communicating with and supporting parents, families and children of the ELRC; managing recruitment and enrollment for academic year and summer programs; managing research functions of the school; and, promoting research activities and meaningful university and community partnerships. The Director is also responsible for facility oversight, and the supervision, training, and evaluation of the dynamic ELRC faculty, staff, and graduate students.

Candidates must have a master’s degree in an education-related field and ten years of appropriate experience with early childhood education, specifically teaching children ages 0-4 and leading an early childhood program. The ideal candidate will also have superb interpersonal skills with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships across disciplines and divisions and within the community; excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills; will be a self-motivated professional with the ability to make high-level decisions and solve problems with creativity and diplomacy; and, has the proven ability to make sound judgement while working with various personalities, relationships and circumstances.
