Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resources Director is responsible for administering the human resources policies, programs and practices of the facility to include:  planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating and directing.  Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Human Resources Department and recommending policies and practices to senior management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and administer an effective recruitment program; conduct recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conduct new employee orientations; monitor career pathing program; write and place recruitment ads; accept applications and work with applicants and department heads; administer pre-employment testing as required.
  2. Prepare, recommend, and maintain records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data.
  3. Ensure legal compliance and maintain management guidelines by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing company at hearings; preparing, updating and recommending human resources polices and procedures.
  4. Ensure planning, monitoring and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling conferences with employees; handling employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviews.
  5. Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
  6. Process new employees and change-of-status forms.
  7. Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
  8. Develop and maintain affirmative action program; file EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  9. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established company goals; recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  10. Maintain Human Resource Information System records and compile reports from database as required.
  11. Responsible for screening and hiring human resource department employees, using effective interviewing and reference checking techniques to improve chances of hiring quality employees who can support The Village at Germantown’s Beliefs, Commitments, and Values.
  12. Responsible for training and coaching department employees, making performance expectations clear; removing obstacles that prevent the individual from performing at a peak level; ensuring that the person gets the feedback necessary to know how well or poorly he/she is doing; and to make sure that performing properly – doing the job right – make a difference, both to the individual herself/himself and to the team as a whole.
  13. Responsible for hiring, training, orientation, scheduling, evaluation, and recommendation of termination of all human resource department personnel.
  14. Order supplies and services from appropriate vendors.
  15. Administer workers’ compensation program to comply with applicable regulations, protect employees and manage costs.
  16. Serve on senior leadership team, participating in setting of company goals and working with other leaders to achieve the goals.
  17. Periodically perform “Manager on Duty” rounds on weekends.
  18. Administer annual employee engagement surveys and participate in performance of annual resident surveys.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by CEO or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
