The Office of Student Life is currently seeking applications for a Staff Nurse – RN to assist the Health Center with nursing care, assisting medical staff, limited office administration, laboratory responsibilities, and light secretarial duties. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing primary nursing services to those seeking treatment or preventive health care, while engaging in accurate written and verbal skills and patient education, administering flu shots and other injections for students, and assisting with physician/nurse practitioner appointments (perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, collect and prepare laboratory specimens for outside testing, vital signs, administer medications, breathing treatments, ear wash, schedule appointments with specialists, arrange for transportation for student if necessary, discharge students from department), applying knowledge of OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA compliance standards and regulations, assisting with health education outreach and programming for the campus community, scheduling appointments for the health center, preparing forms for medical appointments and securing student signatures, assisting in monitoring the administrative assistant desk for the Health Center and Counseling Center, contacting counseling staff in cases of emergency, answering phones, taking messages, following up with students via email or phone call to check their condition or to inform them of laboratory or other testing results, ordering supplies, restocking supplies, cleaning as necessary, assisting with data gathering for departmental reports, responding to campus emergencies as necessary, and maintaining confidentiality of clients.
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN). Minimum of five years of nursing experience required within a medical clinic setting preferred. Computer, health assessment, laboratory, verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience with Medicat electronic medical file system or similar medical software preferred.
