JOB SUMMARY:

The Kappa Delta Foundation seeks a dynamic professional for the position of communications senior manager. The communications senior manager is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan.  In this capacity, the communications senior manager will serve as project manager, editor, design advisor, and/or principal writer on a wide variety of print and electronic projects, including but not limited to press releases, annual reports, direct mail, web pages, magazine articles and other publications. Emphasis will be placed on communication pieces designed to support and advance the mission of the Kappa Delta Foundation and donor cultivation and stewardship endeavors.

Essential duties or functions include:

•       Project Management

  • Lead and coordinate content development for all KDF communications with foundation team
  • Develop and adhere to annual communications plan that includes strategy for communications content, schedule for internal review process and long and short term strategic goals
  • Provide strong project management oversight and ensure accountability of foundation to meet deadlines
  • Collaborate with the sorority communications department to ensure cohesive sorority and foundation communications plans, continuity in messaging and KD brand integration
  • Review and edit all foundation communications, including direct mail and ensure adherence to KD style guide
  • Develop and execute tactics designed to support donor engagement and fundraising initiatives
  • Manage an annual giving program that builds strategic connections with donors and non-donor
  • Provide strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of the Kappa Delta Foundation
  • Research key fundraising and communications practices and techniques that may be used to enhance foundation print and website content

General Communications
–       Manage the foundation’s presence in all Kappa Delta communications channels, including strategic development, planning content, writing articles and proofreading content:
o       KD Leader
o       KD Connect
o       NLT Newsletter
o       AC Insider
o       Angelos
o       Alumnae and collegiate chapter officer manuals
o       Norman Shield (new member handbook)
o       Social media
o       Website (includes content available through the Resource Library)
–       Capitalize on the best uses of website, digital technology and social media
–       Write, edit and provide design direction for annual report
–       Write, edit and provide design direction for biennial impact report
–       Code and send emails through email platform when needed
–       Work with capital campaign consulting firm to develop campaign communications materials
–       Prepare press releases
–       Work with donor relations manager and planned giving newsletter vendor to strategize distribution and content
–       Prepare speeches for board members and executive director as designated
–       Develop photo shot list for national conferences and special events
–       Develop video story board and script for foundation videos
–       Create, revise, implement and print foundation marketing and communication materials
–       Design materials as needed
–       Manage requests for foundation marketing materials to individuals and chapters
–       Develop marketing plan for White Rose Garden fundraising initiative
–       Design White Rose Garden signage and promotional materials
–       Manage National Convention foundation luncheon preparation and operation, including writing the luncheon flow

•       Direct Mail
–       Facilitate communications between contracted mail vendor and the foundation
o       Collaborate on messaging/ branding
o       Discuss best practices
o       Provide membership lists and segmentation
o       Ensure adherence to budget, contract and state registration requirements
o       Provide regular review of fundraising results and vendor performance
–       Drive strategy conversations with vendor
–       Hold vendors accountable for meeting deadlines
–       Review and edit drafts of each appeal letter
–       Manage and maintain consistent review process for each appeal
–       Write and send email appeal to accompany each mail appeal
–       Mange request for proposal (RFP) process
–       Prepare regular appeal analysis reports
–       Prepare annual benchmarking reports

Requirements
In addition, the candidate will offer:

•       A minimum of 3-5 years of experience
•       Strong writing and editing skills a must
•       Knowledge of AP Style
•       Expertise in key digital media disciplines/tools with an understanding of integrated media campaigns and social media
•       Positive attitude
•       Strong work ethic
•       Team-oriented professional work style
•       Strong organizational skills
•       Ability to assess office needs
•       Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and strong interpersonal skills
•       Attention to detail and deadlines with the ability to manage competing demands for time
•       Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•       Adobe InDesign knowledge and graphic design skills a plus
•       Ability to learn new technology quickly
•       Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
•       Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
•       Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
•       Ability to travel occasionally for national conferences
•       Membership in Kappa Delta Sorority is a plus
