Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church – Memphis, Tennessee; Staff Position: Director of Operations and Finance; Reports to: The Rector; Classification: Full-time (40 hours/week); Position Available: June 14, 2021;
Role: Support the rector (senior pastor) by serving as principal business manager responsible for congregational administrative operations, particularly church facilities management (buildings and grounds, custodial maintenance); human resources coordination (employee payroll, benefits, and policies); financials (church accounting, invoicing, reconciliations, reporting), and primary non-clergy liaison to Grace-St. Luke’s School (shared campus, independent, preschool–8th grade); collaborates with fellow staff and clergy team members, volunteer treasurer, elected lay leadership, and members; hires and supervises custodial staff, maintenance vendors, receptionists, and clerical volunteers.
Requirements: post-secondary education; minimum five years of professional office experience in medium-to-large institution operations and finance administration, and bookkeeping (accounting degree preferred but not required); personnel management experience; accounting church software (ASC) experience preferred but not required; Excel and database management experience preferred; good customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; good time and work management skills with minimal guidance in a confidential and often fast-paced environment; prior experience working for a church, religious institution, or non-profit beneficial.
