The focus of this position is to recruit undergraduate engineering students to Christian Brothers University.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Admission and working collaboratively with the Gadomski School of Engineering Dean, the engineering admissions counselor will participate and coordinate activities designed to introduce engineering prospects, applicants and other constituents to Christian Brothers University.
The engineering admission counselor should recognize that any activity related to the role and scope of the enrollment services division is his/her personal responsibility.
The admissions counselor is expected to attend college fairs, visit schools and guidance counselors, conduct campus visits with students and parents, as well as overall territory management duties.
The engineering admissions counselor will work collaboratively with the Gadomski School of Engineering Dean to encourage the conversion of engineering applicants to enrolled students by hosting recruitment events on and off campus.
Be willing and available to travel out of state for extended periods of time.
Use discretion when evaluating freshmen and transfer applicants for admission within established goals and objectives of the Office of Admission.
Counsel applicants on admissions requirements and scholarship process as well as award said scholarships.
Determine merit-based financial award for incoming applicant.
Accurately counsel students and families on financial aid packages and calculate out of pocket expenses.
Use discretion when providing additional funding based off need for incoming applicants.
Maintain effective communication with the Departments of Financial Aid, Registrar, Athletics, and Business Office as necessary to facilitate their efforts in the application process.
Direct information sessions and meet with prospective students, their families and school officials.
Participate in all recruiting initiatives for the Office of Admission including extensive personal follow-up on inquiries and assistance with applicants through enrollment.
Direct, plan, and assess many of the major recruitment objectives of the office of Admission in a determined geographical territory.
Assist with telecounseling, answering emails and other follow-up activities needed to communicate with prospective students.
Represent the University to all constituents using excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Assist with the development and coordination of events for prospective students and their families, both on and off campus.
The engineering admission counselor should be knowledgeable of the recruitment guidelines developed by the following organizations: NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors); and NCAA Division II.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Engineering, technical, and/or sciences background highly preferred.
At least 2 years of recruiting experience required.
Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be creative.
Must posses an ability to work with others and independently.
Must be available for evenings and weekends.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
