Caritas Village Overview:
Caritas Village is located in the Binghampton neighborhood of Memphis and is the heart of a thriving community of
celebrated diversity that welcomes all neighbors to learn, grow, and build community. Caritas Village is currently in a
rebranding process, reimagining our work in a post-COVID world.

Executive Director Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Executive Director (ED) who will work closely with an active Board of
Directors to strengthen and grow the organization in this exciting and strategic season. The ED will be responsible for
overall leadership and daily management, including finance, operations, programming, fundraising, strategic planning, and constituent relationships. This position is full-time, exempt, salaried with benefits.

The ED will work primarily in and from our building located at 2509 Harvard Avenue, Memphis, TN, though some limited local travel may be required and some work may be performed remotely if needed. This position may require light physical work such as lifting and moving small boxes, etc. Salary range is $40,000 – $50,000 commensurate with experience and includes a benefits stipend package. The ED will report directly and be accountable to the Board of Directors.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Be customer service oriented, providing Caritas Village’s constituents with the best possible experience;
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills and be proficient in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines;
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills (bilingual candidates encouraged to
  • Be able to confidently develop and navigate diverse relationships and have an understanding of the nuanced
    dynamics of working in a diverse mixed-income community;
  • Be a proven community builder, able to bring diverse groups of people together under a common purpose
  • Be a proactive, entrepreneurial self-starter who works well independently;
  • Be proficient in Google platform (email, calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.);
  • Have experience with simple website platforms (SquareSpace, WordPress, etc.) and social media platforms
    (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). This is a plus but not required;
  • Have a track record of effectively leading and scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization/program
    and staff;
  • Have experience normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit
    management* and/or leadership. (*We will consider candidates with limited nonprofit experience and/or
    experience in different professional fields if we see the potential for growth and development within this nonprofit role)

Leadership and Strategic Visioning:

  • Work with Board of Directors to develop a strategic plan and then integrate the plan into daily operations
  • Develop and regularly monitor progress on short and long-term goals under the strategic plan
  • Ensure the organization stays true to the mission and vision
  • Build a unified staff team that is engaged and committed to the mission and vision
  • Develop and implement strategies to pursue the short and long-term goals
  • Cultivate a strong partnership with all constituents

General Management:

  • Maintain a high standard of excellence for all operations including, but not limited to, finance, programs, events,
    technology, and human resources
  • Hire, develop, manage, and lead a multi-disciplined and diverse staff
  • Develop and manage effective systems to track progress towards goals, and regularly evaluate programs, so as
    to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents
  • Communicate effectively with the Board of Directors and various constituents

Financial Management:

  • Supervise and oversee all financial aspects of the organization and ensure compliance with all applicable
    regulations and accounting standards
  • Work with the Board of Directors to develop an annual budget
  • Ensure excellent stewardship and proper allocation of all resources (human and fiscal)

Income Generation and Fundraising:

  • Lead a fundraising strategy to secure resources necessary to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the
    organization; serve as the organization’s chief fundraising officer
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with constituents, donors, volunteers, faith organizations, businesses, and
  • Continually promote awareness of the organization’s mission with the goal of growing and cultivating friends and
    partners as well as raising funds


  • Develop and manage programs that are aligned with and help accomplish the mission and vision of the
  • Stay abreast of current trends and developments in the field and continually look for ways to increase the
    organization’s industry leadership and service to the community

Communication and Community:

  • Oversee effective internal and external communications
  • Develop a personal presence within the community that increases awareness and enhances the reputation and
    image of the organization
  • Build strong partnerships with other community organizations to amplify reach and impact
