The sixth annual Memphis Comedy Festival is here and it’s loaded with laughs.
The festival will be March 9-12 and feature headliners Baron Vaughn and Dominic Dierkes along with several comics from all over the country. This year there will be 7 stand up showcases, 8 theme shows, 3 open mics and a comedy shorts showcase.
Each year the lineup of comics has grown tremendously; those who are selected are chosen from hundreds of submissions from people across the nation.
“Memphis has become a must-stop destination for traveling comics and shows,” said festival president Nathan Hiller. “Because of that, we’re getting incredibly high-quality acts and shows, and this year’s festival is going to really blow everyone away.”
They aren’t kidding about high-quality acts with headliner Baron Vaughn who stars on the Netflix Original “Grace & Frankie,” and has made several appearances on Late Night talk shows like Conan and Jimmy Fallon. We are also lucky to have Memphis native, Dominic Dierkes as a headliner for MCF who has worked with Donald Glover and written and produced on Comedy Central shows like Workaholics and Ash vs. The Evil Dead.
A unique part of this event is that it will not only include standup comedy, but the festival has brought specialty shows from different parts of the country to give Memphis a taste of this innovative form of comedy. All of the four day festival’s events provides up to 60 hours of comedy for the people of Memphis to enjoy at any point in their weekend.
“There’s something all the time,” Hiller said. “You can pick one, two or ten shows to see, whenever it suits you. I promise you’re going to love it.”
