Jeremy Beloate, a Memphian with a passion for soulful music, is now making his mark on The Voice. As a member of Team Bublé, he’s competing on a national stage and proudly representing the city that shaped him. Born in Memphis and raised in Bartlett, Jeremy attended Ellendale Elementary and Appling Middle School before moving to Germantown for high school. With the help of his family, he was able to attend Briarcrest and join their One Voice singing group, where he took early steps toward a career in music.
Jeremy’s journey continued on local stages across Memphis, from Theatre Memphis to Playhouse on the Square, and in competitions at the Mid-South Fair. And when he found out that his coach Michael Bublé had also performed in the Mid-South Fair years ago, it felt like the perfect Memphis connection. Jeremy recalls watching The Voice with family and dreaming of the day he’d get his chance. Having auditioned before without success, he now feels that “this is the right time” and couldn’t be more honored.
An Emotional Song Choice with a Deeper Meaning
For his audition, Jeremy chose to sing Heartbreak Anniversary by Giveon, a song that hit close to home. While it’s written about romantic heartbreak, Jeremy connected with the song’s themes of loss and resilience on a broader level. Putting everything into that performance, he was thrilled when all four coaches turned their chairs, welcoming him to The Voice family.
Shaped by Memphis’ Soulful Legacy
Memphis music is legendary for a reason, and Jeremy is a part of that legacy. Inspired by greats like Al Green, B.B. King, and Elvis, Jeremy fell in love with Memphis’ signature soul sound at a young age. In middle school, he even joined a Motown tribute group, where he learned the power of connecting with people through music. “Listening to those classics shaped me,” he says. “Memphis music comes from the soul…There’s just something special about Memphis music. It’s soulful and heartfelt,” he shared.
A New Chapter and a Family on The Voice
For Jeremy, The Voice feels different from any other competition show. He describes it as a family, with contestants supporting each other and the show’s team genuinely helping artists grow. “It’s like everyone wants you to succeed,” he shared, adding that he’s made friendships that will last far beyond the show.
Finding His Voice and Staying True to It
One of the most impactful moments for Jeremy was when Gwen Stefani advised him to stay true to his unique style. She encouraged him to embrace what makes his voice special, reminding him that people resonate with authenticity. This advice made Jeremy feel free to explore a sound that defies genre boundaries, inspired by artists like Jennifer Hudson and Barbra Streisand.
Keeping Memphis Close, No Matter Where He Goes
Memphis is where Jeremy’s heart is, and he plans to keep that connection strong. In the future, he hopes to open a performing arts school in the city, creating a space where young Memphians can develop their talent and chase their dreams. Until then, Jeremy plans to stay connected, return for shows, and support the local arts community that raised him.
What’s Next for Jeremy Beloate?
Jeremy sees The Voice as just the beginning. With support from fans back home and the encouragement of his coaches, he’s ready to dive into the music industry with confidence. He dreams of recording his own music, performing on Broadway, and even exploring acting, inspired by multi-talented artists who break boundaries.
Memphis, Tune In and Cheer On
As he continues this journey, Jeremy is grateful for the Memphis community cheering him on every step of the way. He encourages everyone to tune into The Voice, root for Memphis talent, and share in the excitement. With Memphis in his heart and a voice that reflects the city’s soul, Jeremy Beloate is ready to share his story and Memphis’ spirit with the world.
