Now is the Time. Memphis is the Place.

MEMfix Comes to the Pinch District

MEMfix is returning to Memphis in the Spring, and is headed for the Pinch District. MEMfix is a community driven effort that redesigns and activates city blocks for one weekend, in hopes of exposing all possible personality and potential. The movement has previously been put in to action throughout the city, successfully reinvigorating many of Memphis’ neighborhoods. Crosstown, South Memphis, University District, and The Edge neighborhoods are some of the blocks that have MEMfix to thank for their reinvention.

As the pyramid is renovated into one of the largest Bass Pro Shop’s in the country, people from all over will find themselves traveling to the heart of Memphis. Roughly defined as the areas between the pyramid and St. Jude, bordered by the I40 overpass and A.W. Willis St., the Pinch district lies right in the middle of the areas that will be swarmed with newcomers. Come be a part of the historical reinvention of the Pinch district and help contribute to our incredible city. MEMfix is in need of sponsors, designers, artists, and creators of all kinds, so there is a way for everyone to help.

The upcoming MEMfix event on April 11 promises to bring the north Memphis neighborhood back to life. Livable Memphis and the Downtown Neighborhood Association will energize the neighborhood with street vendors and pop-up shops, along with live music, food trucks, mobile retailers, and other programs and activities to represent the potential of this area.

  • When: April 11th, 2015, from 11am-4pm
  • Where: Pinch District

Pinch Pocket Park:
MEMfix hopes to create a park space within the community where residents walk their dogs, ride their bikes, and enjoy the neighborhood on a nice day prior to the actual MEMfix event. The vacant lot located between two occupied businesses (Westy’s and Red Fish Gallery) will be renovated into a nice area installed with a water station, pet waste removal station, as well as appealing outdoor furniture. MEMfix volunteers are needed to help install the stations and build the furniture before the MEMfix event on April 11th. Funding from residents and others who will benefit from the part will provide funding for this project, and installation will be incorporated into the overall MEMFix prep timeline. Donate to this project here!
