MATA has announced new weekend routes that will provide service to Shelby Farms Park and the Agricenter and will help even more Memphians experience the Heart of the Park.
With 30 days of free events going on during the month of September, you have probably found a few ways to enjoy the new Heart of the Park renovations at Shelby Farms Park. MATA’s route expansion opens up that opportunity to Memphians in surrounding communities, as the new route can easily be connected to Summer Avenue (Route 53).
“Shelby Farms Park belongs to everyone in our community, and we’re always looking for ways to increase accessibility. We are thrilled about this new route that will give more Memphians an easy way to access Shelby Farms Park, especially the new Heart of the Park amenities, on the weekend.” – Jen Andrews, Executive Director, Shelby Farms Park Conservancy
Routes will begin running on September 10, and will be offered Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. The new route (#47) will pick up at State Road and Mullins Station Road and will provide access to multiple stops at Shelby Farms Park and the Agricenter including the Woodland Discovery Playground, the Agricenter Farmer’s Market (open Saturdays until 5:30 p.m.), and Heart of the Park establishments such as the new children’s splash pad, the First Tennessee Foundation Visitor Center and the FedEx Event Center, which houses The Kitchen Bistro.
