Longer days, brighter impact: 5 ways to volunteer in Memphis this June

Summer in Memphis hits differently, and it’s not just the humidity. The days stretch a little longer, calendars loosen up, and suddenly there’s more time to get outside, try something new, and reconnect with our city.

From community festivals and family-friendly activities to helping animals and mentoring youth, here are five ways to make a brighter impact in Memphis this June. 😎

Mudpie Mondays

Mondays in June | 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Summer and mud pies? Sounds like a win. At Memphis Botanic Garden, volunteers help kids and families dig into hands-on nature activities in My Big Backyard. You’ll assist instructors with playful, educational experiences designed to spark curiosity about the natural world. If you enjoy being outdoors, working with kids, or embracing a little chaos in the name of fun, this one’s worth checking out.

Mewtopia Cleaning Crew

Saturdays in June | 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Animal lovers, this one has your name written all over it. Saturday mornings at Mewtopia are all about creating a clean, calm, and comfortable environment for cats waiting to find their forever homes. Volunteers help refresh cat areas, clean litter boxes, and tackle general upkeep that makes a real difference in the animals’ well-being. Even one Saturday a month helps keep the purrs going.

Blooming in Binghampton

Live music, dance performances, poetry, local artists, community vibes, and a petting zoo? Say less. Blooming in Binghampton presented by KIF and Carpenter Art Garden is shaping up to be an event that captures the energy of Memphis in the best way. Volunteers help support a day centered on creativity, connection, and celebrating community in one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

3rd Annual Philippine Fiesta

Hosted by FILAMemphis Inc. at the Agricenter, Philippine Fiesta brings authentic food, music, performances, and family-friendly fun together for one of Memphis’ most beloved cultural celebrations. Volunteers help support event logistics and create a welcoming experience for attendees.
