Long Live the Queen: Gangsta Boo’s Heavenly Birthday Bash Returns to Memphis

On August 7, 2025, Memphis will once again come together to honor one of its most iconic and beloved daughters: Gangsta Boo. Known as the “Queen of Memphis,” Gangsta Boo’s influence on hip-hop, on her city, and on generations of women in music still reverberates today, and there’s no better way to celebrate her life, legacy, and spirit than at the 3rd annual Gangsta Boo Heavenly Birthday Bash.

Be my Memphis Valentine, gangsta boo.

👑 Who Was Gangsta Boo?

Born and raised in Memphis, Lola Mitchell, better known as Gangsta Boo, was a cultural force and a trailblazer. As the sole female member of the legendary Three 6 Mafia, she smashed barriers in a male-dominated industry, carving out her space with raw lyricism, unmatched confidence, and unapologetic authenticity.

Her sound helped define the Memphis rap scene in the ’90s and 2000s, and her contributions put Memphis hip-hop on the global map. Gangsta Boo’s music continues to inspire countless artists (women and men alike) and her love for her city was evident in everything she did.

Even beyond the music, she embodied the grit, resilience, and realness that make Memphis what it is.

💜 How to Commemorate Gangsta Boo

Whether you’re at the bash or thinking of her from afar, here are a few ways you can honor her legacy:

🎧 Play her music. Blast classics like Where Dem Dollas At?, Can I Get Paid, or any of her legendary Three 6 Mafia verses. Share her music with someone who might not know just how deep her catalog runs.

📝 Support local women artists. Boo kicked down doors for women in hip-hop. One of the best ways to honor her is by continuing to amplify women’s voices in music and beyond.

🖤 Give back. Donations at the bash benefit her mom, but you can also donate to local Memphis organizations that empower youth and creatives.

📲 Post and tag. If you’re attending the event or just celebrating her in your own way, use hashtags like #LongLiveGangstaBoo and #GangstaBooHeavenlyBdayBash to keep her spirit alive online.

Why She Still Matters

Gangsta Boo’s influence lives on because she believed in Memphis. She represented the city fearlessly and made sure the world heard our sound, our stories, and our struggles.

Her boldness paved the way for women in hip-hop to own their narratives unapologetically, and her contribution to Southern rap continues to inspire artists everywhere.

🥂 See You at the Bash

On August 7, we celebrate not just a rapper, but a hometown hero whose music, energy, and spirit are forever stitched into the fabric of Memphis.

Come through, bring your best Boo energy, and help us show her family and the world just how much she means to this city.

Long Live the Queen. Long Live Gangsta Boo.
