Do you enjoy friendly competition? Would you consider yourself to be a coffee connoisseur? Do you know a “latte” about coffee art?

387_3If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, then make your way to 387 Pantry on January 27th for Memphis’ first ever Latte Art Throwdown!

  • When: January 27th (6PM-10PM)6PM- Sign Up
    • 7PM- First Pour
  • Where: 387 Pantry (387 South Main)
  • Entry fee: 5$ paid upon arrival
  • Cash prizes: $400 for 1st, $100 for 2nd, $50 for 3rd

Stemming from west coast traditions, the staff at 387 want to bring the coffee community of the Mid-South together to see who can turn a cup of espresso and a swirl of steamed milk into a masterpiece unlike any other.

“It’s a celebration of the culture. The throw-down tradition has made its way across America, and has strengthened coffee cultures in each city into which it’s nestled. The aim of this is to make a statement that coffee is here, in Memphis, and to begin a similar tradition in the 901.” – Lance Hedrick, event organizer and barista at Dr. Bean’s Coffee.

The competition will be judged based on which pour contains the most symmetry, difficulty, creativity, contrast, and overall beauty. At the end, three judges will point at the drink they prefer.

But hey, even if you’re not competing, go show your support and enjoy a cup o’ joe!

French Truck, J Brooks, and Dr. Beans will be there to satisfy your craving with free samples. For those who need something a little stronger, High Cotton will also be present with beer.
