Where and when can you receive free kidney screenings, interactive fitness demonstrations, healthy food samples, in addition to entertainment and activities for all ages?

At the Salvation Army Kroc Center on Saturday, March 14th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is bringing Kidney Action Day back to the Bluff City in hopes of raising awareness for those at risk for chronic kidney disease. Screenings for heart and kidney disease, diabetes, and other important health concerns will be open to anyone 18 and older.

Local health advocates such as Memphis Nephrology Associates and Any Labs Now will be conducting the screenings as well as informing the community on healthy lifestyle choices.

“My goal is to educate as many as possible about the growing rate of kidney disease in Memphis and this is the best opportunity to get the word out, ” said Jo Pinnaka, Nephrologist at Memphis Nephrology Associates. “I’ve been doing this on a smaller scale for many years and now is the time for it to become a big discussion.”
