Junior League of Memphis Enters 100th Year

This year marks the 100th year for The Junior League of Memphis (JLM)— an organization that has invested in the potential of women to become change agents in their communities and the broader Mid-South region.

The JLM was founded in 1922 by seventeen women looking for a way to inspire positive change.

The organization has now grown to over 1,300 members with the mission of advancing women’s leadership.

the impact

Recently, The Junior League of Memphis partnered with The Collegiate School of Memphis, a Give901 partner school, and Choose901: Alumni to create an opportunity to help level the professional playing field for our students.

JLM members held mock interviews for Collegiate students and Choose901 alumni and
provided professional wear through The Repeat Boutique. Students also had lunch with JLM member-volunteers, building relationships we hope will last a lifetime.

When asked her opinion of the experience, Choose901: Alumni Director, Joi Taylor, said “They (JLM) provided an intentional experience for our students setting them up for success—professionally—with proper attire and keener interviewing skills. The young ladies who participated go a chance to network and connect with leaders from Junior League.”

Let's Continue what the jlm has started

Thank you Junior League of Memphis for investing 100 years in Memphis, and for collaborating with Give901 and Choose901: Alumni to create this opportunity for our students in Memphis.

We invite more of you in the community to help us expand opportunities like this for young Memphians. Have an idea of how to recreate something like this with your organization or not sure where to start, but would still love to invest in Memphis the same way? Reach out to Give901’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Kristen Davis by emailing her at kristen@cityleadership.org.
