Videography Resident

City leadership recruiting a data strategist to catalyze development.

Classification: Part-Time (30 hours/week)
Reports To: Communications Director
Location: Memphis, TN (In-Person Required)
Term: Residency (6–12 month commitment preferred)

Role Overview

The Videography Resident is a hands-on, production-focused role responsible for capturing and managing video content for all City Leadership campaigns. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operation of our video room, execute on-location shoots, and coordinate the post-production pipeline with external editors. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and energized by producing consistent volumes of meaningful, Memphis-centered content.

This role is output-focused and best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where creativity meets structure. You’ll have access to gear and internal resources, but must be self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple projects from pre-production through final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the organization’s video production equipment and studio space
  • Coordinate in-person shoots (interviews, event coverage, content series)
  • Handle logistics and prep for video projects (equipment setup, shot lists, location management)
  • Upload and organize footage for handoff to outsourced video editors
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align on content needs and story direction
  • Track and manage video production timelines across multiple projects
  • Maintain quality control standards across all visual content delivered
  • Support internal archiving of past footage and organization of media files

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in video shooting and basic project management
  • Ability to operate DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lights, and audio equipment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Experience using Google Drive, Dropbox, or Frame.io for media handoff
  • Familiarity with basic editing is a plus but not required (editing is outsourced)
  • Comfortable taking creative direction and managing project expectations
  • Self-starter who is comfortable with autonomy and clear output goals
  • Passion for storytelling and Memphis culture

Expectations

  • Deliver a consistent volume of high-quality footage weekly for editor processing
  • Maintain a clean and functional production space
  • Be physically present in Memphis to capture content as needed
  • Operate on a flexible but structured weekly schedule (approx. 30 hours/week)
  • Work with efficiency and intentionality to help the team meet campaign deadlines
