Electrical Maintenance Tech

Position Summary
The incumbent performs and assists in the maintenance of equipment and systems on the college campus.

Essential Functions
-Assists in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment for the college following applicable     building codes and safety regulations.
-Assists in conducting a maintenance program to prevent failures of equipment by monitoring all buildings   continuously.  Checks gauges, functions, sounds, controls and regulators.
-Assists in periodic inspection of assigned systems, fixtures, and equipment.  Installs and/or replaces parts as     required.
-Maintains repairs to lighting, emergency lighting, sign lighting, troubleshooting.
-Performs minor repairs voltage checks and runs conduit.
-Repairs roof and replaces damaged ceiling tiles throughout campus.
-Tests fire safety equipment and inspection of emergency equipment to ensure maintenance of proper working    order of emergency lighting, ballasts.  Replaces breakers.
-Replaces bulbs and makes minor electrical repairs.
-Performs e-waste recycling and breakdown; performs routine generator maintenance and logged inspections.
-Monitors, documents and runs tests on generators.
-Ability to document and record data on iPad, laptop and or desktop.
-Ability to fill in and perform other duties associated with the maintenance department and other duties as            assigned.

Job Specifications
Education:      High School diploma/equivalent.

Experience:    Two years of maintenance experience in electrical maintenance and repairs or related experience   or an equivalent of training and experience.  Experience in general plant maintenance and repair methods is   required.   Electrical knowledge is preferred.

Special Skills/ Possession of a valid driver’s license from state of residency and proof of insurance or

Certifications:  or insurability based on personal driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Ability to read voltage meter and megohmmeter.
-Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
-Ability to read and comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
-Ability to learn PC.
-Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of electrical components.
-Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding and work at heights about 30 feet.   Ability to kneel, crawl and work      in confined areas.
-Ability to be effective, professional and accurate in both oral and written communications.
-Ability to deal with others with courtesy and tact using good verbal communication skills and to establish and      maintain effective working relationships with others.
-Ability to drive college vehicles.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, frequent walking, sitting, bending and climbing.   Regularly lifting up to 70 pounds.
Audible Demands: Operation of two-way radio, use of phone, verbal communication with supervisors, co-workers, and contractors
Visual Demands: Computer use, operation of equipment, phones, and two-way radio.  Reading blueprints, schematics, and drawings
Environmental Conditions: Work is conducted both inside and outside facilities.  May be exposed to irritants, elements, noise, temperature variations, etc.
Hazards: Potential risk of injury or work-related illness.

Additional Responsibilities/Considerations
-Employee will be required to use woodworking tools and equipment, brazing and welding equipment, power        lift work platforms, testing equipment, computer, calculator and copy machine, and two-way radio.
-Employee may provide “on-call” service as required.
-Employee must wear company-issued uniforms during normal working hours.
-Employee must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residency and proof of insurance or insurability   based on personal driving record.
