Position Summary
This position will be responsible for providing staff supervision and training as well as other related duties/responsibilities as needed.
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Two (2) years of experience working in a criminal justice environment as an investigator, counselor, social worker, or related; and
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, or related field; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conducts interviews, background investigation and prepares reports/paperwork on defendants with pending/active court cases, and/or make bond presentations as needed.
2. Works in conjunction with the Unit Supervisor to supervise and coordinate the activities of employees assigned to the 24-hour Jail Release operations.
3. Works with courts and other related agencies and programs as departmental liaison in identifying clients for release, supervision and other referral needs.
4. Directs and trains assigned counselors and evaluate their effectiveness.
5. Organizes and leads team discussions to promote and accommodate unit and departmental needs goals.
6. Reviews files and paperwork for accuracy and insuring proper responses to any issues and/or discrepancies.
7. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

5. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of counseling and their application.

7. Ability to maintain and establish meaningful rapport with counselees and subordinates.
8. Ability to work with various agencies and groups in exchange for information and data.
Special Requirements
1. Must be available for shift, weekend and holiday work as required.
2. Must be able to work in a jail secured environment.
3. Must be able to obtain a Special Deputy License.
