Seeding Success leads and coordinates the More for Memphis initiative, a comprehensive, county-wide plan to improve the quality of life for all residents by ensuring all people, especially those in Black, brown, and low-income communities, have access to the essential services and resources they need to thrive. The More For Memphis plan, accessible at moreformemphis.org/the-plan, outlines over 30 research-supported strategies to help improve financial opportunities and quality of life for residents. The goals of More for Memphis are driven by collaboration across sectors, data-based decision making, and using public policy to ensure sustainability.

Position Summary: 

Seeding Success seeks an experienced Business Analyst to join our Data and Performance Management Team on an as-needed basis. In this role you will bridge the gap between identifying business needs and creating and refining data processes. You will work closely with the internal team and external stakeholders to gather requirements that represent the voice of the customer, recommend process improvements, and create detailed documentation. We seek an independent, critically thinking individual with strong communication skills, resourcefulness, and creative problem solving abilities who thrives in a fast paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business needs and objectives and ensure resulting solutions meet their requirements.
  • Develop business requirements through interviews and observations.
  • Produce clear, concise and comprehensive documentation of business needs.
  • Conceptualize representations of current and proposed processes to illustrate how requirements will be implemented.
  • Develop use cases that uncover how end users will interact with proposed processes.
    Facilitate process testing and make adjustments needed. Validate solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and quality standards.
  • Assist in the development of project plans and timelines.
  • Communicate project issues and risks to the team.
  • Understand and analyze how new data will impact the Seeding Success data warehouse and business rules; communicate these changes effectively to data analysts
  • Understand and analyze how new data will impact Seeding Success data visualizations and existing data products
  • Understand data business rules and how to align these educational business rules to business requirements
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in analytics and systems development.
  • Ability to generate process documentation and reports; experience with process modeling or mapping tools
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail in written and visual reports
  • Familiarity with common analytical tools tools like SQL, Python and data visualization software like PowerBI.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets to identify trends and patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate insights into strategies.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with or knowledge of education-related data

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least two years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, with a proven track record of successful project delivery and process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to elicit, document and validate business requirements.
