Development Intern

Position Title: Development Intern

Reports to: Development Manager

Status: Fall Semester Internship, Unpaid

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure donor database management and timely gift entry
  • Support fundraising events and campaigns to attract new and retain existing donors
  • In coordination with the Development team, manage the production of direct mail and email appeals, invitations, announcements, and promotions for target donor populations
  • Support communication efforts aimed towards donor acquisition and stewardship
  • Conduct grant research

 

CORE COMPETENCIES: This internship is designed to help the student build skills around fundraising and development. Even so, there are a couple of core competencies the student must have before taking on this internship:

  • Experience/education in development, fundraising, communications, customer-service and/or marketing preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to the issues affecting gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, asexual, intersex, transgender and questioning youth and adults
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to the issues of racial, socio-economic, ability, and age disparities and capacity to speak towards cultural intersectionality within the LGBTQ+ community
