Overview

MoSH is seeking a full-time Senior Coordinator for Camps and Scouts to lead, develop, and deliver engaging, hands-on educational programming for camp participants and scouting groups. This role is vital in creating meaningful, interactive experiences that align with MoSH’s mission to inspire discovery through science, history, and cultural exploration. The Senior Coordinator will play a key role in shaping and expanding MoSH’s camp and scout offerings, ensuring high-quality educational content and fostering a love for learning in participants of all ages.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Delivery:

Develop, coordinate, and implement educational camp and scout programs, including day camps, summer camps, scout workshops, and overnight experiences.
Design and facilitate hands-on activities, experiments, and workshops focused on science, history, and cultural education.
Adapt program content to meet the needs and interests of diverse audiences, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
Collaborate with the Education Department to align programs with MoSH’s mission and educational goals.
Logistics and Coordination:

Oversee all logistical aspects of camp and scout programs, including scheduling, staffing, supply management, and space preparation.
Manage the registration process, communication with participants and families, and distribution of program materials.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to MoSH’s safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Staff Supervision and Training:

Train and supervise camp counselors, seasonal staff, and volunteers.
Provide ongoing professional development and mentorship to ensure high-quality program delivery and effective classroom management.
Foster a positive, collaborative team environment among staff and volunteers.
Community Engagement and Outreach:

Build and maintain relationships with local schools, scout groups, and community organizations.
Promote MoSH’s camp and scout programs through outreach efforts, presentations, and partnerships.
Collaborate with the Marketing Department to develop promotional materials and campaigns.
Assessment and Improvement:

Gather and analyze participant feedback to continuously improve program content and delivery.
Maintain accurate records of program attendance, evaluations, and outcomes.
Stay informed on best practices in informal education, STEM learning, and youth engagement.
Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Museum Studies, Science, History, or a related field.
3+ years of experience developing and facilitating educational programs, preferably in camps, museums, or informal learning environments.
Proven experience managing staff and leading teams.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Passion for engaging learners of all ages and fostering curiosity and discovery.
Preferred:

Experience working with scouting organizations and an understanding of scout badge requirements.
Familiarity with STEM education and inquiry-based learning methods.
Knowledge of Tennessee academic standards.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
