The Memphis Botanic Garden—a 96-acre urban oasis featuring over 30 display gardens, robust educational programming, and year-round community events—is seeking a Box Office Manager to lead ticketing operations for both Garden-hosted programming and major live events at our outdoor amphitheater, the Radians Amphitheater.
The Box Office Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless ticketing operations, exceptional guest service, and efficient collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy, detail-oriented multi-tasker who brings a positive attitude, ethical professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills. They are highly organized, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Pay Rate: $24-26 per hour
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily box office operations, including ticket sales, will-call, guest services, and on-site support for:
- Memphis Botanic Garden events and programs, such as Holiday Wonders at the Garden, youth education classes and camps, and seasonal exhibitions.
- Radians Amphitheater live events, including Live at the Garden, Mempho Fest, and other concerts or large-scale performances.
- Manage the full ticketing and registration process for events across both venues, ensuring seamless customer experiences from purchase to entry.
- Supervise, schedule, and train box office staff to maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
- Act as the primary point of contact with ticketing software providers, ensuring system functionality, resolving technical issues, and setting up events.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, events, operations, and finance teams to align ticket pricing, promotional messaging, and ticketing timelines.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence during major events to manage front-of-house logistics, oversee guest entry, and resolve ticketing issues in real time.
- Manage all box office communication channels, including the box office phone line and email inbox; respond to inquiries in-person, online, and via phone.
- Create and disseminate internal event FAQs and ticketing guidelines for staff and volunteers.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports on ticket sales, attendance, and revenue; provide data and insights to Operations, Finance, and Marketing teams.
- Work directly with the Director of Live at the Garden on show settlements and post-event reporting.
- Reconcile daily financial transactions, including cash, credit card sales, and online payments; ensure secure handling of all patron and financial data.
- Ensure compliance with ADA and accessibility standards; promptly resolve guest concerns related to access or accommodation.
- Develop, document, and enforce box office policies and procedures that support efficiency, guest satisfaction, and organizational goals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in box office management, ticketing operations, or a related field, preferably in a performing arts, live events, or venue setting.
- Proficiency with Ticketmaster/Archtics is highly desired; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including hiring, training, and supervising part-time or seasonal staff.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and events simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require.
- High level of integrity and accountability in handling financial transactions and patron data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to represent the organization professionally to the public.

Special Requirements:

- Hours & schedule for this position vary per week depending on the Garden’s event schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Position requires walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- The position is on-site at the Memphis Botanic Garden.
