Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Purpose: To design, implement, and teach age-appropriate academic content appropriate for students in early childhood in accordance with the mission and values of the school.

Essential Functions:
Units of Inquiry and Instruction
●       Demonstrate depth of knowledge and passion for inquiry and Reggio Emilia methods.
●       Create engaging, purposeful lessons driven by student interest.
●       Design and present lessons while creating learning opportunities and experiences that enable all students to acquire the knowledge and skills based on individual interests.
●       Adopt pedagogical approaches that reflect current wisdom within one’s discipline and make material accessible to all learners and learning styles.

Feedback
●       Assessment methods are appropriate for each child’s age and level of development and encompass all areas of development, including math, science, and other cognitive skills; language; social-emotional; and physical.
●       Teachers use assessment methods and information to design goals for individual children and monitor their progress, as well as to improve the program and its teaching strategies.

Classroom Culture
●       Cultivate trusting, caring relationships with each girl that ignites her love of learning.
●       Actively engage in warm, friendly conversations with the children and encourage and recognize children’s work and accomplishments.
●       Encourage girls to play and work together.
●       Help students resolve conflicts by identifying feelings, describing problems, and trying alternative solutions.

Communication
●       Partner with parents, colleagues and administrators to understand each girl’s needs.
●       Communicate student progress and concerns with tact and professionalism (in collaboration with your administrator) to parents.
●       Prioritize professional growth through consistent participation in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service workshops, and other professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:
●       Three years of successful teaching experience required; Five or more years are preferred.

●       Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in related field; Teacher licensure preferred.
●       Knowledgeable about curriculum, research-based teaching practices, and innovative trends in the desired grade band.
●       Trained in the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children and able to apply that understanding in the implementation of curriculum and instruction.
●       Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage the classroom.
●       Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
