Position: Director of Development (Fundraising)
Full Time, Memphis, TN
Starting salary: $80,000
The Director of Development will be responsible for growing and diversifying fundraising revenue through innovative and high-impact fundraising initiatives. This role is critical in cultivating and securing major gifts and corporate partnerships to expand the organization’s mission. This position will be responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining fundraising program initiatives and campaigns that often may be restricted to fund specific needs within the organization such as house building or aging in place projects. Works closely with the President/CEO who serves as the Chief Fundraising Strategist for Memphis Habitat.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the design and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including major gifts, corporate giving, individual giving, planned giving and donor cultivation/stewardship to meet and exceed organizational revenue goals.
Develop and implement the annual fundraising plan with clear goals and objectives and reasonable timeline.
Builds and manages a major donor prospect list, and tracks progress via a revenue dashboard toward revenue goals.
Create donor develop strategies that support CEO and Board personalized involvement in the fundraising process.
Grow and maintain a robust donor pipeline through data-driven strategies.
Partner with construction, community engagement and volunteer teams to maintain Habitat’s build sponsor relationships that ultimately grow support via these groups.
Partner/support the community engagement team to create signature events and volunteer recognition/appreciation events.
Partner with the communications team to develop donor-centric messaging, campaigns, appeals, collateral and digital content.
Partner with the brand team to ensure consistent branding and mission alignment across all development channels.
Collaborate with programs and research teams to gather data, impact stories and outcomes to support compelling reports and proposals.
Continue to develop knowledge of fundraising best practices through membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals and attendance at professional development events and training.
Must work collaboratively with a host of other departments including: marketing/communications; community engagement; and brand strategy in a cohesive impactful manner.
Will supervise the annual giving manager and corporate engagement manager.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field required; Master’s Degree in organizational leadership, philanthropy, business or public policy/administration preferred. CFRE a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, with a proven track record in major gift cultivation and solicitation, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, and donor communications..
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Highly developed interpersonal skills, presentation skills and public speaking skills; ability to meet and interact with people with ease.
Strong persuasive writing and storytelling skills, particularly for grant proposals, donor appeals, and impact narratives.
Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under the pressure of multiple, concurrent priorities and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques
Knowledge of long-range planning process
Ability to inspire a team for maximum results
