Mobile Porch Driver

BLDG Memphis is a coalition of organizations and individuals who support the
development and redevelopment of safe, healthy, and attractive neighborhoods. We are
seeking a Contractor to deliver the Mobile Porch for the Mobile Porch program.
Built on top of an 18-foot trailer, the Mobile Porch is a ‘front porch on wheels’ that goes
into the community to support a range of community engagement activities, such as
community surveys, clean ups, mini-planning efforts, and the like. The porch is equipped
with a variety of technology tools.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the executive director and BLDG Memphis staff, this
individual will be responsible for the following:
 Drive, maneuver, and deliver the Mobile Porch to designated events.
 Set up and secure the Mobile Porch at assigned location
 Support the organization’s community engagement goal

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the contractor frequently works in outside weather
conditions.

Physical Demand
While performing the duties of this job, the contractor is regularly required to talk to the
event coordinator for instructions for delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements
 Must be 21 years old with a TN driver’s license, clean driving record, and the
ability to haul and maneuver an 18-foot trailer;
 Ability to work weekend days and occasional weekdays or evenings;
 Ability to lift and move heavy items;
 Ability to work independently with minimal direction;
 Comfortable working with a wide range of individuals in a variety of
neighborhoods;
 Energetic and enthusiastic attitude;
 Flexible and able to resolve issues on the fly;
 Excellent personal communication skills (outgoing personality a plus)

Schedule & Compensation
Hours will vary by event. The driver’s schedule will include pick up of Mobile Porch from
storage site, deliver Mobile Porch to designated event. Return and pick up Mobile Porch
and deliver back to storage site. Compensation is $300 per event.
