Program Outreach Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Full or part-time position for male or female. The person hired will work with young people 9 to 18 years of age.  The person will report to the Chief Executive Officer and/or his appointee.  Full-time positions are salaried and may include full benefits, such as medical, 401-K, and paid time off

POSITION FOCUS:

The Outreach Specialist is responsible to RedZone Memphis’ Executive Staff to implement the planning, coordination and implementation of RedZone’s program.  The person in this position is expected to promote and develop the outreach efforts among urban young people, ages 9 to 18 who live primarily in the Orange Mound community (38114).

 

SPECIFIC TASKS:

I.      DIRECT PROGRAM:

A.    To coordinate and facilitate youth outreach/recruitment efforts.

B.    To work with the team to plan and administer daily/weekly activities & events.

C.    To attend/participate in community engagement activities as assigned.

D.    Network with churches, faith- & community-based entities.

 

II.    LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:

A.   Network with potential partner

1.    Recruit donors and manage volunteers.

2.    Support marketing efforts of RZ ministry.

a.    mass communication, e.g., social media content/mailings.

b.    Attend seminars, workshops, training, events, etc.

c.     Attend mission fairs/conference as appropriate/assigned

3.    Supervision

a.     Accountability: to the mission strategy and vision

b.    Responsible for reporting, monitoring, measuring results, planning

c.    Individualize planning, goal setting and attainment.

 

III.   RELATIONSHIP WITH BOARD:

A.    Outreach Specialist is to be present at RedZone board meetings as directed.

 

IV.   REPRESENTING REDZONE MINISTRIES IN THE COMMUNITY:

A.    Outreach Specialist will be involved in speaking to various groups, e.g., schools, churches and community organizations, regarding the program.

B.    Outreach Specialist will be involved, under the direction of the Executive staff, in cultivating relationships and developing new contacts with individuals, schools, groups, or churches in the community.

C.    Outreach Specialist will have development responsibilities in terms of “fundraising” under the direction of the C.E.O. and Board.

Program Focus:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing the program strategies of RedZone Ministries. Responsible to develop and facilitate direct evangelical outreach and discipleship ministry among urban young people, particularly young people between the ages of 13 to 18 who live in the Orange Mound community. The coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director or the designee.

 

Specific Tasks:

I.               Direct Ministry:

A.     Be accountable to mission strategy and vision.

B.     To collaborate with the team to facilitate a weekly proclamation event.

1.      Develop specific programs that meet the needs of girls.

C.     To host a weekly bi-weekly Bible Study / Discipleship Group

D.    Summer Camping

1.      Summer programming, i.e., weekend and weeklong camping.

2.     Serve at weeklong summer camping experiences.

E.      Provide wholistic programs in the community.

F.     Network with churches, parachurches, and other organizations.

G.    Have a high presence at Melrose High School and the community.

1.      Intentional effort to recruit kids for programming.

2.     Highly active in the school &community, i.e., service.

 

II.              Leadership Development

A.     Network with potential partners.

1.      Recruit and nurture volunteers and potential donors (actively engage in resource development process)

2.     Marketing

a.      Community Newsletters, etc.

b.     Attend Mission Conferences

B.      Training Opportunities

1.     Must participate in training sessions.

2.     Attend seminars / conferences (in and out of town)

C.     Administrative

1.      Must keep accurate records of numbers and outcomes.

2.     Set individual goals and objectives, re:  numbers, outcomes, etc.

3.     Must submit reports and /or assignments on time.

4.     The Men’s Program Coordinator must attend all RedZone staff meetings.

Program Focus:

The Education Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of RedZone Ministries educational program. The coordinator researches and evaluates the educational program curricula, process, and procedures for RedZone’s academic enrichment and extended learning programs. The coordinator will work and collaborate with community schools/educators to develop, coordinate, and implement an effective after-school academic model.

Specific Duties:

 

I.              Direct Ministry:

A.    Be accountable to the mission strategy and vision.

B.   To collaborate with the team to facilitate daily academic enrichment strategies.

  1. Develop programs that meet the educational needs of students.
  2. Research materials and curriculum.
  3. Monitor progress of program & students.
  4. Compliance assurance.

C.    Facilitate daily educational activities/programming.

D.   Summer Camping

  1. Summer programming, i.e., weekend and weeklong camping.
  2. Serve at a weeklong summer camping experience.

E.    Facilitate/Support/Engage in Community Outreach.

F.    Network with churches, parachurches, and other organizations.
