Minimum Position Qualifications: Associate’s degree in relevant area and two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Requires Universal EPA certification.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs preventive maintenance on heating and cooling system equipment. Repair or replace other cooling or mechanical equipment including refrigerators, freezers, pumps and shop equipment. Responds to cold or hot calls; starts or stops chillers and boilers. Performs minor general maintenance work to include plumbing and electrical repairs as needed. Order supplies, maintain inventory, track time, refrigerant usage, complete daily timecards, write requisitions for materials/parts.

HVAC Controls Technician

 

 

Southern College of Optometry, one of the nation’s leading schools of optometric education located in Memphis, TN is recruiting for a HVAC Controls Technician.

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining commercial mechanical systems on the campus.  Accurate record-keeping and preventative maintenance are required.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

·         Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning heating, air conditioning and refrigeration units, split systems, air handling units, and ductless systems to determine the cause of the malfunction.

·         Performs scheduled maintenance inspections, and adjusts, cleans and calibrates various systems to assure proper system operations.

·         Repairs wiring and electronic components associated with HVAC control systems and with all physical plant electrical systems.

·         Replaces expansion valves, compressors, motors, coil units and other component parts.  Cleans refrigerant systems from hermetic burnouts, evacuates and charges systems.  Determines cause of and corrects condensation problems.

·         Checks distribution systems for proper velocity, volume, temperature, pressure, etc.

·         Provides technical assistance on design of HVAC systems, including installations and modifications to existing systems.

What you will do

  • Under direct supervision of the Area Resource Manager, the HVAC Customer Resource Coordinator receives and schedules customer calls for service. Manages the schedule of assigned technicians and mechanics.
  • Ensures schedule allows for timely completion of preventative maintenance and aligns with monthly forecasting goals.
  • Debrief activities of assigned technicians/mechanics daily, coordinating with technicians/mechanics to resolve concerns quickly.
  • Partners effectively with the Service Team Manager to ensure technical service work is completed in a reasonable timeframe and to the customer’s expectations.
  • Analyzes and assesses technical team performance and adjusts as needed to enhance customer satisfaction cost-effectively.
  • Assesses job completion and collaborates with Customer Billing Coordinators and Customer Support Coordinators to progress completed jobs through the appropriate business process.

How you will do it

  • Receives customer requests for unscheduled or scheduled service.
  • Coordinates labor scheduling to align technicians to the appropriate customer and service needs.
  • Communicates the action plan and services to be provided directly to the customer.
  • Ensures work has been performed to the customer’s expectations and performs follow-up with the customer, as needed.
  • Answers any customer inquiries and resolves or escalates customer issues, as appropriate.
  • Debrief activities daily.
  • Ensures Technicians are provided with daily schedules. Maintains consistent communication with assigned Technicians.
  • Follows up on activities to ensure completion in an established timeframe.
  • Ensures that all customer account information required to support call management activities and scheduling of tasks are kept up to date in NxGen.
  • Scheduled Service Visits – on time.
  • Parts ordering/PO creation support.
  • Start-up support.
  • Customer PO confirmation.
  • WIP Management.
  • Reconcile exceptions (SIR and AP).
  • Attend weekly planning/scheduling meetings.
  • Assist with monitoring of time and expense reporting submission.
  • Review and correct unassociated time for timesheets for technicians.
  • Other duties and administrative activities as assigned.

Mechanical Inspector – HVAC/Gas

Position Summary
Works under general supervision of the Senior Inspector to make inspections to enforce and/or insure conformance to Codes of Memphis and Shelby County Code Enforcement.

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications
1. Three (3) years of experience in the mechanical HVAC and/or Gas trade industry and a high school diploma or possess a GED; OR

2. Five (5) years of experience in the building construction industry and a high school diploma or possess a GED;

3. Must obtain ICC Certified Mechanical Inspector credentials in Residential and Commercial within one year of hire date with one of the two within six months of hire date.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs field inspections according to inspection procedures and Mechanical HVAC & Gas codes.

2. Investigates and answer complaints.

3. Recommends corrective actions regarding Code Violations.

4. Documents inspections approval or denial utilizing assigned technical equipment.

5. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSA’s
1. Thorough understanding and knowledge of applicable Mechanical HVAC and/or gas codes and ordinances.

2. Ability to make decisions and tactfully interact with disgruntled customers.

3. Ability to perform field inspections and investigations using the Mechanical HVAC and/or Gas codes.

4. General computer usage skills.

Physical Requirements

1. Work will require exposure to areas under construction.

2. Must possess the physical dexterity to access all areas during construction including, but not limited to bending, stooping, climbing ladders, accessing attics and walking on uneven terrain.

3. Must pass a physical examination.

Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or secure one by the date of employment.

2. Must possess State Fire Marshal Mechanical Inspector Certification or able to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.
