PR Assistant

Position Overview

Wilson Public Relations is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented PR Assistant to provide essential support to our team. In this role, you will perform a range of administrative and creative tasks, including managing calendars and drafting and reviewing content. You will assist in market research, media tracking, and maintaining databases, as well as participate in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative PR ideas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage calendars (editorial, press conferences, events) and track deadlines
  • Assist in organizing and executing PR events, press conferences, and meetings
  • Draft and review various types of content (press releases, media alerts, newsletters)
  • Proofread and edit announcements, presentations, and video scripts
  • Track and document media coverage and PR metrics for reporting
  • Maintain and update contact databases, content calendars, and media lists
  • Create project-specific media lists to support PR campaigns
  • Archive press clips and compile materials for periodic reports
  • Provide general administrative support to the PR team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Prior experience in PR, communications, or as an administrative assistant (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of PR and marketing processes and best practices
  • Exceptional copywriting and editing skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and trends
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines efficiently and autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Creativity and passion for generating ideas and contributing to PR strategies

We do occasionally work some evenings, but not any overnight work. People that don’t like working here are those who cannot show up on time to work. Simulated Patient

Help future healthcare providers while getting paid as a Simulated Patient!

A Simulated Patient (SP) is a healthy person who has been coached to simulate a patient (or family member) according to a variety of case scenarios for the teaching and evaluation of healthcare learners.

We are looking for SPs who can work in person at the UTHSC campus. We recruit individuals from diverse backgrounds, a wide range of professional experiences, and a variety of ages from 18+ years. Pay is $20/hour. This is a specialized (temporary) position and is not benefit-eligible. This is not a full or a part-time job but does provide a regular, year-round gig. SPs do not have a set schedule; they typically are scheduled M-F during business hours (7am-5:30pm). Many SPs work at least 8 hours a month (if not more). We ask that SPs commit to working with us for at least 12 months.

Invited group auditions/interviews are happening Aug. 12 and 20. If invited to join our SP team, you will be required to attend a paid onboarding session Sept. 18-20. We typically only recruit and hire new SPs once or twice a year, so apply now! ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Works under the general supervision of the Manager of City Beautiful to plan, organize, and direct activities and programs related to litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, and community greening/beautification. Duties to enhance the goals and objectives of Memphis City Beautiful include:

· Developing and coordinating special events, including community cleanups, planting projects, recycling drives, school/youth activities and more.

· Acting as a liaison for community organizations and neighborhood groups.

· Recruiting, monitoring, and sustaining a network of volunteers.

· Gathering data and tracking metrics for annual reporting.

· Researching and collecting best practices for new programming.

· Responding to citizen concerns and providing suggestions in a positive manner.

· Securing strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and special grants.

· Public speaking and providing information to governmental agencies, businesses, neighborhood groups, civic organizations, and schools.

· Maintaining City Beautiful resources such as the tool bank, litter box & recycle bin lending, 52-Clean Litter Hotline, and more.

· Coordinating communication efforts including social media, printed materials, promotional items, and media relations.

· Writing key correspondence, including letters, brochures & flyers, meeting minutes, and more.

· Being knowledgeable about sustainability and environmental topics.

Communication Manager

St. Mary’s Episcopal School seeks a talented and highly motivated Communication Manager to join our team beginning summer of 2024. The Communication Manager will be pivotal in enhancing the school’s communication efforts. This individual will work closely with the Director of Communication to develop and implement communication strategies and support the school’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate has strong writing and editing skills, consistently high standards, works collaboratively with others, and seeks new storytelling methods.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategy and Planning: Develop short and long-term comprehensive communication plans for events and campaigns. Collaborate with the communication team and administrators to implement tactics.
  • Content Creation: Create compelling and engaging content for various platforms, including the school’s website, social media, email, and publications. Build relationships with faculty and staff that result in generating story ideas. Maintain a content calendar for all communication channels.
  • Website Management:
    • Serve as site administrator for the school’s website in collaboration with users across the institution and with outside vendors. Carry primary responsibility for site updates, functionality, and user support.
    • In coordination with the communication team, create, edit, curate, and post content regularly to applicable channels and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the school’s messages and priorities.
    • Work closely with internal teams (Admission, Philanthropy, Business Office, Athletics, Buckman, and Auxiliary) to ensure the site effectively meets needs. Train and support content editors.
    • Stay up to date on developments and troubleshooting issues.
  • Email Communication: Work with the other members of the Communication team to collaborate with academic division heads, department directors, and leaders in creating concise, consistent, and effective email communication. Oversee a monthly community-wide e-newsletter.
  • Magazine: Serve as the editor-in-chief of St. Mary’s biannual magazine. Manage an outside graphic designer, photographer, and writers. Collaborate with administrators and faculty to plan the editorial calendar and content. Oversee the approval process, mailing lists, and printing.
  • Alumnae Communication: Partner with the Alumnae Relations Manager to keep alumnae engaged and informed through email, website, mailings, and social media.
  • Faculty and Staff Communication: Foster open and transparent communication among faculty and staff, informing them about important developments and school news. Oversee monthly employee e-newsletter.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Brand Management: Partner with the communication team to ensure the school’s brand and messaging consistency across all channels.
  • Internship Program: Oversee communication student internship program from recruitment to day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the director, including but not limited to events, social media, media relations, crisis communication, photography, videography, and occasional evening and weekend assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing; master’s degree preferred
  • Five or more years of experience in marketing and communications with independent schools or nonprofit organizations preferred
  • Exceptional organizational, project, and time management skills; ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, and prioritize effectively
  • Builds and maintains relationships easily; works productively with everyone on campus, from students to administrators
  • Communicates professionally and confidentially via phone, email, and in-person
  • Excellent interview skills; ability to translate complex ideas into cohesive copy
