FAIR HOUSING COUNCIL OF METROPOLITAN MEMPHIS

TEST COORDINATOR JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Summary of position
The National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) has established a new full-service private non-profit fair housing organization, the Fair Housing Council of Metropolitan Memphis (FHCMM).  The FHCMM exists to combat the history of public and private policies and practices which have led to high degrees of segregation and discriminatory practices against vulnerable populations in Metropolitan Memphis.

The FHCMM is seeking applications for two Test Coordinator positions who will work with the victims of housing discrimination to investigate their complaints.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Testing Coordinators are responsible for:

·         Complaint intake and counseling of the victims of housing discrimination;

·         Testing and investigation of fair housing complaints;

·         Recruiting and training fair housing testers;

·         Research, create and implement fair housing testing projects;

·         Coordinate testing assignments according to established protocols;

·         Assist with case development.

Qualifications
Required
·         Demonstrated commitment to fair housing and equal rights;

·         Bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years of equivalent experience;

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing;

·         Good analytical, problem solving, and writing skills;

·         Must be organized, thorough, and accurate, and possess proficiency with computer programs, phone, text messaging, and social media platforms;

·         Possess good teamwork skills and the ability to work with a diverse population;

·         Demonstrated ability to recruit, organize, and manage volunteers;

·         Commitment to creating organizational culture aligned with civil rights and social justice advocacy.

·         Ability to travel to and throughout FHCMM’s service area.

 

Preferred
·         Experience in housing and/or civil rights;

·         Clear understanding of and ability to adapt to Tennessee and Metropolitan Memphis’ cultural and political landscape;

·         Proficiency in WordPress or other website maintenance program;

·         Bilingual and/or proficiency with the Spanish language desired.

Compensation and benefits
This position is full-time.

Salary: $60,000 – $70,000/year.  Salary is commensurate with experience and demonstrated achievements. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance; paid annual and personal leave, and paid holidays.
