Because I was born and raised in Memphis, you might think that I’m an expert on the city. Sure, I have done many school projects on Elvis, attended several Grizzlies games, and walked down Beale Street. However, it wasn’t until this last year that I started really getting to know the city.
As a teenager, I was so excited for the day that I would get to leave and explore another city. I thought Memphis didn’t have as much to offer as other places. I spent four years in Dallas, TX studying journalism, French and fashion media at Southern Methodist University. I majored in journalism, French and fashion media. After graduation, I moved to New York City for a year. I absolutely loved getting to know those cities, but in the back of my mind I knew that I would most likely be coming back to Memphis.
In the summer of 2017, I moved back home. It was the first time I was living here as an adult, and the first time I really saw all of the amazing things Memphis has to offer. Everything from outdoor bars to indoor rock climbing to gourmet popcorn. We have so many great businesses, unique opportunities and an incredible community of people that you can’t find anywhere else.
In the last year, I have spent a lot of time getting to know my home again. Choose901 has been a huge part of that experience. Because of it, I have been able to see what is happening in my city. I am so excited to be working with such a great company that has helped so many people love Memphis.
When I’m not getting to know Memphis, I can usually be found talking about pop culture. I am often the person people go to if they want someone to explain the latest celebrity gossip. I’m passionate about reality tv and love to talk about which Real Housewife did what this week or what a Bachelor contestant posted on Instagram. I love going to the movies and then coming home and reading every article written about the movie. I’m also a book lover and jigsaw puzzle enthusiast. I also do most of these things while drinking a Diet Coke.
