How I Turned My Personal Reset Into Something Memphis Needed

This blog was written by RegitheChick

The Reset didn’t start as a business idea. It started with me.

There was a point when I realized I needed to make some changes in my own life. Not necessarily big, dramatic changes, but intentional ones. I needed to slow down. I needed to reconnect with the things that made me feel like myself. I needed more joy, more music, more experiences, and sometimes, I needed permission to just be.

That became my personal reset.

I started becoming more intentional about how I spent my time and what I allowed into my space. I went to concerts. I spent time outdoors. I made sure I listened to music….lots of music. I explored my city. I found little moments that reminded me that life isn’t only about responsibilities, deadlines, and work.

Sometimes joy is sitting outside while your favorite song plays. Sometimes it’s meeting somebody new. Sometimes it’s laughing with friends. And sometimes it’s being completely by yourself and realizing you enjoy your own company.

The more I began creating those moments for myself, the more I started thinking other people probably need this too.

Why This is Important

We live in a world where everybody seems to be constantly doing something. We’re working, taking care of families, checking our phones, answering messages, worrying about what’s next, dealing with the stresses of life and trying to keep up. Even the things that are supposed to help us relax can start feeling like another obligation.

I didn’t want another obligation.

I wanted a space where you didn’t have to accomplish anything.

That thought eventually became The Reset with Regi.

What Is the Reset with regi?

The idea is actually pretty simple: create experiences that give people an opportunity to step away from the everyday noise, reconnect, rediscover a little joy and simply be.

No complicated agenda. No pressure to network. No expectation that you have to show up a certain way.

You can come with your friends. You can meet somebody new. You can come alone. You can talk, laugh, listen to music, watch the sunset or sit quietly and enjoy the moment.

That simplicity is intentional.

And Memphis, the city I love, felt like the perfect place to create it.

Memphis has a rhythm that is hard to explain to somebody who hasn’t experienced it. Music is woven into who we are, but so are our people, our stories, our neighborhoods and the way we connect with one another.

I wanted The Reset to feel like that.

One of the experiences that grew from the idea is The Sunset Riverside Experience, an evening by the Mississippi River built around something we already have right here in our city: a beautiful Memphis sunset.

The concept isn’t to fill every minute with programming. In fact, it’s almost the opposite.

Bring a blanket. Find a comfortable spot. Listen to relaxing sounds. Take in the river and golden-hour views. Talk to somebody or don’t. There is room for both.

For me, that’s part of what makes The Reset different.

I’m not trying to convince people that there’s one right way to reset. I’m not a yoga instructor, a therapist or a wellness guru. I’m a Memphian who realized how much better I felt when I became intentional about creating room for joy in my own life.

Now I’m creating a variety of opportunities for other people to do the same.

I believe people need spaces where nothing is required of them except being present.

I believe adults still need opportunities to play, explore, discover new things, meet new people and enjoy themselves.

I believe sometimes a few hours of good energy, fresh air, conversation and a beautiful view can remind us that there is still a lot of life to enjoy.

That’s what my personal reset taught me.

What started as me trying to reconnect with myself has slowly become something I want to share with Memphis.

The Reset isn’t about escaping your life.

It’s about stepping away from the noise long enough to remember to enjoy it.

And sometimes, that’s all THE RESET we need.
