What Can You Recycle at IKEA Memphis?
You’d be surprised what IKEA will take off your hands this April. The focus is on electronic waste (aka the stuff you don’t want to toss in the trash) but there’s also year-round recycling available for common household items. Here’s what’s accepted:
✅ Electronics & E-Waste (April Only)
PC Monitors
Televisions
Laptops
Hard Drives
Printers
Fax Machines
✅ Lamps
Fluorescent bulbs (straight, compact, u-shape, circular)
HID lamps
LED, incandescent, mirrored, flood and spotlights (unbroken only)
✅ Batteries
Dry cell & wet cell batteries
Lithium-ion, Nickel Cadmium, Alkaline, Lead-Acid, Button Cells, and more
✅ Cardboard (Year-Round)
Break it down and place it in the white receptacle in the customer loading zone
📦 Pro Tip: Bring your used batteries and bulbs even after April. They’re accepted year-round!
Why Does E-Waste Recycling Matter in Memphis?
Tossing electronics in the trash might seem convenient, but it’s a big problem for our planet. E-waste contains hazardous materials that can leak into soil and water when not disposed of properly. By offering a free and accessible way to recycle, IKEA Memphis is helping reduce toxic waste, protect our environment, and promote a greener 901.
This initiative makes it easy for everyone, from tech hoarders to new homeowners, to do their part for the planet without spending a dime.
