We’re inviting you to the club, but get this, there’s no cover, you can wear tennis shoes (I believe that’s recommended), and you’ll likely leave feeling better than when you came! Lace up your shoes, Memphis, because we’re stepping into the 901 Run Club!
Jarius Powers (middle), Darryl Sims Jr. (right), and Jeremy Jones (left)—founders of 901RunClub—aren’t just encouraging Memphians to stay active; they’re creating an inclusive, high-energy space for them to do it. These three champions turned what started as casual running with college friends into a community- a movement- that brings Memphians from all over together to vibe out, meet new people, and run.
Now, with group runs hosted on most Sundays throughout the spring, summer, and fall, 901RunClub welcomes runners and walkers of all levels. It’s more than just a workout—it’s a celebration of movement, connection, and Memphis grit.
We laced our shoes up last week for their Sunday group run, and get a chance to ask these guys some questions about the club ⬇️!
Who inspired you to start running?
Darryl: There is this coach on the Nike Plus Run Club app, named Coach Bennet. He alwasy talks about how running is about running, but it’s also not about running. He got me movin’.
How does 901runclub foster community in Memphis?
every pace. every face!
Darryl: There is space for everybody here. Our motto is “every pace. every face.” That’s what community is to me….
It was amazing to see how these guys have brought together so many Memphians who are excitied about getting active together. The atmosphere at the Sunday group run was light, joyful, and eager. Jarius says that people not only make friends out there, the 901 Run Club is connecting businesses- creating the space for collaboration. 901 Run Club is bringing opportunity to Memphians who are willing to step out in their best… and maybe worst pair of tennis shoes.
