I was headed to Phillip Ashley Chocolates in Cooper Young when I passed a very simple shop I hadn’t noticed before that seemed to be selling food. I thought about it and had to go in Cooper 20/20 and check it out.
I met the owner Kathy who explained that everything in this grab-and-go store was all made from scratch. And I’m not talking about chicken tenders and fries, but real meals like Greek Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Gorgonzola Fettuccine. Soups like African Peanut and Black Bean Chili. They even have sides and extras from pickles to hummus and everything in between.
What’s also nice about the place is that the fridges are fully stocked with meals you can pick up to be thawed out and warmed up. And variety is key. From Gluten free options and vegan dishes, all food lifestyles are welcome. I bought the homemade yeast rolls and the Meat Lasagna made from local chuck beef. Ingredients such as red wine and feta cheese just made it divine to eat. I cannot describe how yummy this meal was with the rolls. Ugh I fell right to sleep after it, but wow it was incredible and I’m going to go back for more. Next time you don’t feel like cooking but want something hearty and healthy while supporting local Memphis, then Cooper Street 20/20 (located at 800 S Cooper St.) is the place to go.
