Streets Ministries is an organization that encourages and empowers youth in some of the toughest neighborhoods in Memphis to seek success through various educational, athletic, and mentoring programs.

STREETS has a fully staffed team but is also largely volunteer based. One of STREETS’ branches is Street Smarts, an after-school program that connects volunteers with 2nd grade students to further develop basic reading skills. The program runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm at the Su Casa Building next door to their location on North Graham Street.

How you can help:

  • Street Smarts is currently seeking volunteers with availability from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays.
  • The program will kick off Tuesday, February 2 and operate every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday until Friday, April 22 with the exception of the week of March 20-26 for spring break.
  • Street Smarts will also have a concluding volunteer appreciation event on Thursday, April 28.
