Germantown is Calling All Artists for a New Traveling Mural Project

Paint the Town…Literally

The City of Germantown just dropped an amazing opportunity for local creatives: a Traveling City Mural that will showcase the soul of the city and celebrate everything that makes Germantown feel like home.

Built on five portable panels, the mural will travel to high-traffic spots and community events, giving artists a unique chance to make their mark all over town.

And here’s the best part: artists living within 75 miles of Germantown can apply now through May 7.

How It Works

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Deadline to Apply: Wednesday, May 7

  • Open To: Artists or artist teams living within 75 miles of Germantown

  • Format: Mural composed of five 4’x8′ MDO panels (materials provided)

  • Artist Award: $12,000 for the winning artist or team

  • Finalist Stipends: $1,000 each for up to 3 selected finalists

  • Final Size: 86” x 240”

Artists will submit qualifications first — no need to have a finished concept yet! After review, up to three finalists will be selected to submit a design. A weeklong public voting period will let Germantown residents weigh in, but the Germantown Public Art Commission will make the final call.

Even if you’ve never done public art before, don’t count yourself out. You just need experience with large-format painting and a passion for telling a story through visuals.
