There’s a new bake shop in town with delicious treats for Memphians. This week I got the pleasure of heading into Frost Bake Shop at Laurelwood. From the bright green doors, bright white and pink interiors, and the friendly associates this is a bake shop that is all types of inviting.
Now lets talk food! Frost makes cupcakes, cookies, boxed deserts, pies, cheesecakes, layer cakes, and specialty cakes. You can come in and buy by the slice, whole, a le carte , or a dozen in any of their treats except specialty cakes.
Flavor is key when it comes to baked desserts and Frost knows exactly how to play that up. I tried the Orange Dream, Strawberry (their best seller), and Red Velvet cupcake, as well as a Scottish Shortbread and Snickerdoodle cookie. Yup you could say I love sweets but really all of them were good and not too sweet. Frost knows the perfect amount of icing to top off these wonderful treats. The orange dream tasted much like a creamsicle. The Strawberry is so good and not super sweet like other strawberry cakes (another thing to note is the pound of strawberries that go into the batter creating natural sweetness to the cake). Lastly, the Red Velvet…mmm! I am a hard judge of this cake since it is my favorite and my my, it was yummy..rich but smooth and had the perfect creamy frosting!
The bake shop offers Happy Hour specials which they share on their Facebook page, as well as specials on smash cakes.
