There was a time when balloons were simply something I loved creating. They were colorful, joyful, and full of possibilities. Through my business, KazKalloonz & More, I had the opportunity to transform ordinary spaces into experiences and help families celebrate some of life’s biggest moments.
Then grief changed everything.
In October 2023, I lost my sister, Undreia. She wasn’t just my sister—she was part of my journey. She supported me, helped me, and was connected to the memories I had built while growing my balloon business.
After losing her, I didn’t stop being creative, but something in me changed. The momentum I once had became harder to maintain. Grief doesn’t always look like completely giving up. Sometimes, it looks like still showing up while feeling like you’re moving through life at half speed. Sometimes, you are still dreaming, still working and still taking care of everyone else, while quietly trying to find your way back to yourself.
For me, that journey back has been filled with color.
I started remembering why I fell in love with creating in the first place. Balloons are temporary, but the memories created around them can last forever. A balloon installation isn’t just decoration. It becomes the background of a child’s birthday picture, a family’s celebration, a business milestone or a moment someone will look back on years later.
That realization helped me reconnect with my purpose.
I didn’t want to simply return to what I had been doing before. I wanted to create something bigger—something that brought together creativity, families, photography and the kind of joy that makes you feel like a kid again.
That’s how Kidzation Station Balloon Selfie Museum Pop-Up came to life.
On July 25 and 26, 2026, Kidzation Station will bring a colorful, interactive balloon experience to Memphis. Instead of attending an event where balloons are simply in the background, families will be able to step directly into immersive balloon photo environments designed to inspire creativity, fun and unforgettable pictures.
The experience will feature themed photo zones inspired by K-Pop, Memphis basketball culture and Minecraft-style adventure, along with family-friendly entertainment, local vendors, music, sweet treats and opportunities to simply enjoy being together.
But for me, Kidzation Station represents more than an event.
It represents movement.
It represents creating again after a season when creating felt different. It represents taking the pain that could have stopped me and allowing it to become part of the reason I kept going.
As a Memphis entrepreneur and mother, I know what it feels like to have a vision while also carrying real life. Building something from the ground up is rarely as simple as social media makes it look. There are moments of excitement, uncertainty, sacrifice and doubt. There are times when you have to believe in an idea before anyone else can see what you see.
Kidzation Station is one of those ideas for me.
I envision it becoming more than a one-time pop-up. I see opportunities to create new themes, new experiences and more spaces where Memphis families can make memories together. I want children to walk into a room and feel like they’ve stepped into another world. I want parents to pull out their phones and capture moments they’ll still be smiling about years from now. I want local businesses and creatives to have opportunities to connect with families in our community.
Most of all, I want my story to remind someone that losing momentum doesn’t mean you’ve lost your purpose.
Sometimes life changes you. Sometimes grief changes the way you move, think and create. The path back may not look like returning to exactly who you were before.
Sometimes, you create something new.
For me, that something new is filled with balloons, color and a vision for what could be possible.
My sister will always be part of my story, and so will the version of me who had to learn how to keep moving after losing her. I can’t change what happened, but I can choose what I create from here.
This chapter is about turning pain into purpose.
It’s about choosing to create again.
And on July 25 and 26, I hope Memphis families will step into the colorful world I’ve been imagining and experience Kidzation Station for themselves.
Because sometimes, after the hardest seasons of our lives, we don’t simply go back to who we were.
We create something beautiful from who we’ve become.
