Located along the tracks of the trolley on the outskirts of Downtown, is Trolley Stop Market. In addition to tasty food, TSM also serves as a shopping place for locally made artisan goods, crafts, and trinkets. (You can find Reverb Coffee here.) The owners of TSM also farm, so you know they are using only home grown and fresh veggies for your food. They not only serve it in their food, but they sell it year round. This allows for TSM to be a “mini” year round farmer’s market. You can snag local milk, organic fed meat, jams, jellies, and other great finds!
The interior is filled with bright colors and eclectic decorations. It has picnic tables with tablecloths and salvaged wood shelves. It’s got an area for entertainment, and on Friday nights you can even find local musicians playing. TSM does have a bar, but not a “bar” atmosphere and is suitable for kids any night of the week.
Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Trolley Stop Market has quite the selection. They have sandwiches, hand crafted pizzas, daily specials, and homemade pies. With a whole section devoted to non meat eaters, I had trouble making a decision and asked a friend for help. We went with the Margherita Pizza, a happy medium that we could both share. We also ordered a Daily Special. The specials change everyday, but this time they had blackened tilapia, and you get to choose 2 sides of veggies to go with your special. We had homemade mac ‘n’ cheese, and squash with zucchini. For lack of a better expression, it was ON POINT! Our pizza had just the right kick of basil, and the tomatoes were small and cherry sized so they didn’t overwhelm the pizza. The crust was cooked just enough so it wasn’t doughy without being black. The tilapia didn’t taste too fishy, and didn’t taste like charcoal (as the case with most blackened fish).
Trolley Stop Market gets 4 thumbs up from Choose901. If you’re in the mood for food and fun, it’s definitely the “stop” for you. Check it out for yourself.
