Avenue Coffee is now open at 786 Echles St, 38111 (in the old Stuffy’s spot). I went to check it out for my coffee fix, and was pleasantly welcomed with free samples, smiles, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
After sampling the cookies and cupcakes, I decided on a key lime cupcake, which was very yummy. It has fresh lime in the frosting, which was a nice touch. I also ordered a large pour-over coffee, my personal favorite. Since Avenue Coffee uses locally roasted beans by Reverb Coffee, you know that the coffee you are about to buy is very fresh and well roasted.
There is a piano available for musicians to play in one of the rooms off to the side of the coffee shop, as well as another large room and a large patio! This place is much much bigger than it looks from the outside. I see many nights of live music ahead.
There is free wifi and plenty of outlets for those long nights of studying or work that you have to get done.
Avenue Coffee is more than just a coffee shop though. They are a nonprofit organization that uses their coffee shop as a tool for ministry. They serve as a meeting place for study, an art gallery for local artists, a stage for local musicians, and an environment that promotes open conversation. Every month they also donate a portion of their tips to a local nonprofit committed to making Memphis great.
Hours are Mon-Sat 8am-midnight, closed on Sundays.
