FedExFamilyHouse to Triple in Size with $12 million Building Campaign

FedEx and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital is launching a campaign to expand the FedExFamilyHouse with a $12 million expansion by 2018.

FedExFamilyHouse is  home for many families of patients at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Families do not pay anything during their stay. Five million dollars will be raised  and donated by Fred Smith, CEO of FedEx and his wife, Diane Smith. A fundraising campaign, Building on the Promise, has been launched to raise the money for construction costs. The money will be raised during a yearlong series of fundraisers and donations.

In the six years that the house has been open, it has helped over 100,000 families stay together through a difficult time.

“The generosity of FedEx, its leaders and employees is world-class, and all of us at Le Bonheur are excited and grateful for their commitment to FedExFamilyHouse,” said Meri Armour, Le Bonheur president and CEO.

The planned expansion will include:

  • A four story building with 40,000 square feet to be connected to the current facility;
  • 51 new rooms, with 21 suites and 30 hotel-style rooms;
  • New community spaces for gatherings, meetings, and functions;
  • New outdoor play areas;
  • Four large kitchens
  • A library
  • A laundry room
  • Play areas and gardens
