Explore Thornwood: 5 Things to Do

I’m often asked, “What exactly IS Thornwood?”

The short answer is that Thornwood is a place to live, shop, dine and stay.

Located in Germantown, Thornwood comprises an entire block near the intersection of Poplar and Germantown Parkway. Walk around and you’ll note the combination of modern living and old world style. It’s a beautiful place.

“Yeah, that’s great, but what can I actually do there?”

Thanks for asking. Here are five ways to spend your time at Thornwood.

1. Check off your wedding to-do list

If you need to give your guy a nudge before he pops the question, make a visit to Bob Richards Jewelers. This family-owned business started back in 1927 (!) and was the very first retailer to land in Thornwood. Their selection is A+ and the staff is really friendly.

After he’s worked up the courage to ask, you need to find your dream dress. Maggie Louise was recognized by Southern Living as the top bridal boutique, and their showroom is stunning.

Last but not least, you’re going to need a cake. Crave Sweets has you covered. Whether it’s a groom’s cake that feeds 20, or an elaborate three-tier cake that all your guests enjoy, Crave can help.

2. Enjoy the coffee shop vibes

What started as slinging joe in a trailer has expanded into one of Memphis’ most popular coffee shops. And what’s better is that their new location has more seating!

Jojo’s Espresso serves Comeback Coffee so you know it’s fresh, and Palmer House makes all their tasty bakery items in house.

Whether you’re on that workflow or are looking for a slow Saturday morning, make Jojo’s your go-to spot.

3. Breakfast, lunch, dinner

You’re hungry? Thornwood has some top-notch options.

How about a Happy Hour? That happens from 2-6 PM at Uncle Goyo’s. Order any of your favorite Taconganas menu items here (Taco Tuesdays, anyone?!).
