Weekly Bike Ride
Volunteers are needed at the Carpenter Art Garden to ride with the children of Binghampton.
Opportunity: chaperoning weekly bike rides down the Greenline, Hampline, and Overton Park every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
Skills needed
- Knowledge of Rules of the Road – Bicycling on the Road
- Must attend a new volunteer meeting before volunteering with CAG
Schedule and Commitment
Bike Rides are on Wednesday and Thursday after school. The schedule will change during the summer months.
- Volunteers should only commit for days they are available
- Volunteers should arrive between 2:45 pm & 3:00 pm for bike ride prep and introductions.
- Volunteers should commit to at least two hours of participation for each ride
Equipment
- Helmets are required for all participants
- If possible, bring your own bike and helmet. We have extras if needed.
- Dress appropriately for the weather. We do not ride when it is raining.
- Bring water bottle
What to expect
- Gene Carkeet s is our Bike Shop Leader and will introduce you to the program.
- You will meet and engage with the youth in the Binghampton community.
- The bike ride is limited to six–eight students, depending on number of volunteers available.
- Please help students put on their helmet correctly.
- Assist in checking that the student is fitted properly to the bike.
