Weekly Bike Ride

Volunteers are needed at the Carpenter Art Garden to ride with the children of Binghampton.

Opportunity: chaperoning weekly bike rides down the Greenline, Hampline, and Overton Park every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

 

Skills needed

  • Knowledge of Rules of the Road – Bicycling on the Road
  • Must attend a new volunteer meeting before volunteering with CAG

 

Schedule and Commitment 

Bike Rides are on Wednesday and Thursday after school. The schedule will change during the summer months.

  • Volunteers should only commit for days they are available
  • Volunteers should arrive between 2:45 pm & 3:00 pm for bike ride prep and introductions.
  • Volunteers should commit to at least two hours of participation for each ride

 

Equipment

  • Helmets are required for all participants
  • If possible, bring your own bike and helmet. We have extras if needed.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather. We do not ride when it is raining.
  • Bring water bottle

 

What to expect

  • Gene Carkeet s is our Bike Shop Leader and will introduce you to the program.
  • You will meet and engage with the youth in the Binghampton community.
  • The bike ride is limited to six–eight students, depending on number of volunteers available.
  • Please help students put on their helmet correctly.
  • Assist in checking that the student is fitted properly to the bike.
