United Fest – Cumbia en el Rio

United Festival: Cumbia en el Río returns to Beale Street Landing on September 13 celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and the local cultures that make Memphis unique. The free, family-friendly festival will feature folk music and cultural performances, authentic Latin American food, local vendors, community organizations, and activities for all ages.

Highlights include a cumbia dance-off with prizes, a children’s art contest, an Aztec dance performance, a burrito-eating contest, a kids’ activity zone, and a low-rider car show viewing. The afternoon will also include community networking and a panel discussion presented in collaboration with the Amigo Community Center.

The festival will culminate with the annual lighting of the Hernando de Soto Bridge in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, followed by additional cumbia and Latin dance performances. The event will take place rain or shine, and admission is free!
