Third Thursday Trek at Overton Park

Many of us know Lick Creek, the stream that runs north/south through the center of Overton Park, only as a concrete ditch. But this wasn’t always the case! In this month’s Third Thursday Trek, Overton Park Conservancy Programs Manager Malle Carrasco-Harris shares the history of Lick Creek, including when and why the artificial channel was constructed, and how the creek may have interacted with the Old Forest in its natural state. We’ll also go exploring in the creek to gain a new perspective on where all that water goes.  Note: we will be going down into Lick Creek during this walk. This will require an approximate 3.5 foot drop into and up out of the channel. Please only register for this month’s walk if you are physically able to do this.
